I Should Tell Her -- October 6, 2019

Teddy was in the boys' dormitory thinking of how he should tell Victoire about his new self when the door opened. He looked up and saw James. "Hullo," he said.

"What's up?" James asked, plopping on Teddy's bed.

"I'm having a crisis," Teddy explained dramatically.

James rolled his eyes. "What now?"

"I don't know how to tell VIctoire about me," he explained.

"Oh, I don' think you should," James said. "At least not right now. Wait until you understand it better."

"But what if I change in front of her and then she freaks out because of what I am?" Teddy asked frantically.

"But you won't. You can control it that much."

"Then I should tell her about it, just in case," Teddy said.

"No!" James nearly yelled. "Don't tell her yet. She's already really worried about you because all you do is mope around when you're not snogging her. Don't make her worry even more, Ted."

"I don't worry her. Nor do I mope," Teddy said, defending himself.

"Yes, you do. So don't make her feel worse. Just... leave it be and then maybe -- just maybe -- you'll be able to tell her by Christmas."

"Why not by Halloween?" Teddy asked, trying to figure out James' logic.

"Because I highly doubt you or she will be ready by then," James explained.

"And what do you mean by that?" Teddy asked angrily.

"I mean that you can't handle yourself if and when you get upset. If she rejects you -- not saying that she will -- you won't be able to control yourself. And if you do something to Victoire, you'd never live with yourself," James explained.

Teddy sighed. James was right, of course. But he didn't have to admit it aloud. "But James, Victoire deserves to know."

"I agree with you. But wait for a couple more months, Teddy," James said in an almost pleading voice.

Teddy sighed again. "OK, fine. I'll wait. But only because it'd be best for Victoire not because you convinced me otherwise."

James chuckled a bit. "OK, whatever. You did it for her and I'm glad that you're waiting."

Teddy smiled a bit. "You know, I never change when I'm mad at you. I wonder why that is..."

"It's because you've grown tolerant of me during this new time of your life," James said confidently.

"Pfft. I highly doubt that. I can barely tolerate you, James," Teddy said.

James laughed. "Well, you obviously tolerate me enought not to morph."

"I guess," Teddy agreed.
